Our community involvement

We’re proudly partnering with ALONE to support them across their programmes.

ALONE was set-up to help older people living alone, who may feel isolated and lonely.

ALONE supports older people facing social isolation.

And we want to help them.

We choose our charity partners by asking colleagues who they’d like to support.  We then organise fundraising activities, skills-sharing opportunities and volunteering to support them.

ALONE will benefit from our combined fundraising efforts as Standard Life will match any funds raised by our colleagues.

Alone provides important programmes including:

  • Housing with Support
  • Support Coordination
  • Befriending
  • BConnect (supporting people to live independently at home through training and technology)
  • Campaigns for Change to hundreds of older people every week, who are homeless, socially isolated, living in deprivation or in crisis.

The funds we raise will go directly to these services to help older people continue live in their own communities.

April 2019

ALONE, our charity partner held its first Donation Day on Thursday 4 April. Several of our colleagues took part and raised funds which will go directly to help services for older people in Ireland.

Our team of volunteers raised €1,463, which was matched by the company, giving a total of €2,926.

We've been supporting the community through a number of initiatives since 1998. We also contribute to the community by donating in kind.

Involving our people in community investment is important to us.

It gives us the opportunity to share skills and knowledge – and it also helps us develop new skills. That is why our volunteering policy provides paid time off to for staff to continue their valuable work in their own communities.
